Schools Contest Overview

The Schools Contest is based on the “Qatar e-Nature” application and website – a first of its kind smartphone application that highlights the rich diversity of Qatar’s environment, including birds, insects, mammals, reptiles, flora and marine life. Sasol and Friends of the Environment Center collaborated on the development of the bilingual application, which features content in Arabic and English. It aims to support the objectives of Qatar National vision 2030 by promoting sustainable development through an environmentally aware population.

To encourage students discover and explore Qatar’s rich nature and learn more about the environmental diversity in the country through the popular Qatar e-Nature mobile application and website, Sasol, FEC and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education developed an annual contest for all students in Qatar since 2014. The contest comprises of multiple-choice questions that were prepared to engage students and help them learn about Qatar’s wildlife.
