Family: Aizoaceae. Growth form: Annual herb. Flowering. Apr. Status: Native. Local. Also recorded: Bahrain, E Saudi Arabia. Habitat & distribution: Noted in two places in western Qatar, 2007 (John Norton), including one site on the outskirts of Dukhan township and another south of Umm Bab; both on compact, calcareous soils. Also Al Khor island (Renee Richer). Batanouny cited a record by Boulos (1978). Uses: Ground seeds are used in making bread and other foodstuffs.
