Growth form: Perennial herb. Flowering. Mar–May. Status: Native. Common. Also recorded: Bahrain, Kuwait, E Saudi Arabia, UAE. Habitat & distribution: Locally abundant in silty depressions in C Qatar. Uses: Eaten as salad or cooked with rice to add flavour (El Amin, Jongbloed et al.). Used as a purgative in Bahrain (Rizk & El-Ghazaly).
